Demographic forecasting is an essential part of transportation planning in any region. North Central Texas Council of Government (NCTCOG) develops demographic forecasts to be used in transportation investment analysis. These investments generally require large capital and need to satisfy significant regulatory requirements before implementation. This process is organized in a long range transportation plan of the region. In this presentation, Arash Mirzaei explains the role of the NCTCOG in this process, the forecast of the population and employment in the region, major transportation projects that are in the plan for 2035, and introduces resources that can inform you in more detail about these subjects.
